Ceepo family announces creation of the Taylor Paige Ceepo Memorial Fund at the Cleveland Foundation

CLEVELAND – The Ceepo family today announced the establishment of the Taylor Paige Ceepo Memorial Fund at the Cleveland Foundation to honor Taylor Ceepo’s legacy through causes and organizations that were important to her.

Ceepo, a Medina resident, passed away unexpectedly from cardiomyopathy at the age of 22 on May 19, 2019, while running in the Cleveland Marathon.

“The friendships Taylor made through high school, college and her soccer club were priceless to her, and Taylor’s smile and upbeat personality brought love and joy to everyone’s life that she touched,” said Jackie Ceepo, Taylor’s mother. “Our hope is to keep Taylor’s memory alive through the creation of the memorial fund, and we’re grateful to everyone who has already contributed.”


An April 2019 cum laude graduate of Walsh University in North Canton, Ceepo earned her bachelor’s degree in biology while double minoring in chemistry and psychology. As part of her life-long dream of attending medical school, she was an active organizer and member of the annual Walsh University Dance Marathon charity event which supported the Children’s Miracle Network at Akron Children’s Hospital.

Ceepo was a passionate athlete and loved the game of soccer, including playing more than 10 years of club soccer with the Internationals Soccer Club, as a four-year varsity starter at St. Vincent-St. Mary in Akron, where she was a 2015 graduate, and four years of varsity soccer at Walsh.

“Taylor was extremely family oriented and loved spending time with her parents, sister (Isabella), grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and especially enjoyed the holidays and family vacations,” said Alan Ceepo, Taylor’s father. “While we feel Taylor’s absence every day, we believe this is a meaningful way to extend her legacy.”

Three events have already been organized by the community to raise additional dollars for the Ceepo Fund:

  • 28 – at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s Stadium (15 N. Maple St., Akron, OH) for a soccer doubleheader vs. Hoban (girls kick-off at 5 p.m. followed by the boys at 7 p.m.)
  • 5 – Walsh University Women’s Soccer team (at Milazzo Field near 2020 East Maple St., North Canton, OH) vs. Lake Erie
  • 30 – at Fat Little Buddies Tavern (26906 Cook Rd., Olmsted Township, OH) in conjunction with the Ohio State-Michigan football game
