Free tickets are now available for the Cleveland Foundation Annual Meeting, “A Sense of Place,” presented by KeyBank! This year’s meeting will be held May 1 in the Connor Palace at Playhouse Square, and attendees can look forward to the following highlights:
A Compelling Keynote
The Robert D. Gries Keynote Lecture will be delivered by Sir David Adjaye, world-renowned architect and founder of Adjaye Associates, whose credits include the Smithsonian Institute National Museum of African American History and Culture. Sir David will be joined in conversation on stage by Plain Dealer art and architecture critic Steven Litt.
“Sir David Adjaye is one of the most exciting and thought-provoking innovators in the architecture world today,” said Ronn Richard, President & CEO of the Cleveland Foundation. “Whether it is his career-defining work with the Smithsonian or his important new project with the National Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre in London, Sir David Adjaye is the perfect voice to bring to Cleveland as our community continues to transform across shared spaces and places. We are grateful for KeyBank’s continued partnership and look forward to honoring the accomplishments of our donors and community partners and sharing our goals for the year ahead.”
A Celebration of Community
A performance by Twelve Literary Arts will open the annual meeting program. Twelve Literary Arts is an inter-generational teaching, learning, and professional development incubator for poets, writers and performance artists who seek a safe space to write in the middle of Cleveland’s inner city. These writers bring performance poetry to public spaces around Cleveland. The performers will read poetry they composed around the theme, “A Sense of Place.” Over the last year the Cleveland Foundation is proud to have supported Twelve Literary Arts with grants of nearly $200,000.
The annual meeting will include the State of the Community address by Ronn Richard, Cleveland Foundation President & CEO, along with the presentation of the 2018 Homer C. Wadsworth Award, given annually to a local leader who demonstrates creativity, innovation, ingenuity, risk-taking and good humor in a civic, volunteer, nonprofit or public sector role.
Following the meeting, attendees are invited to stay for a community reception, featuring a photo exhibit of local “Place.makers” who are shaping and defining the future of Cleveland.

Dear Cleveland Foundation.
I went on line to get 4 tickets for A Sense of Place with Sir David Adjaye May 1,20`18. My friends were going with me. But now they can not ride with me and will be driving to the Playhouse in their own car. So today I decided to go to Playhouse and pick up the tickets and give them their own ticket. However, they could not find my order . I go on line and do it like I always do and have got tickets that way for so many of your events. I don’t know what happened. I am heart broken. My friends were counting on me. . I really wanted to be present for this event.
Sincerely,
Kitty Williams
Playhouse Square Box Office sometimes irresponsibly does this. Hope Cleveland Foundation was able to help you.
