Cleveland Foundation announces new hires, enhancements to grantmaking team structure in 2018

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Foundation today announced new enhancements to the program/grantmaking team structure to further the expertise of the foundation and its impact on the community.

The new structure refines specific areas of focus for program staff to include:

  • Leadership Development
  • Youth and Social Services
  • Education
  • Neighborhood Revitalization & Engagement
  • Economic & Workforce Development
  • Arts & Culture
  • Environment & Health

“For more than a century, Cleveland Foundation staff have partnered with outstanding organizations in Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties to serve the needs of Greater Cleveland residents,” said India Pierce Lee, Cleveland Foundation Senior Vice President, Program. “Refining our grantmaking team structure not only reflects how the needs in Greater Cleveland have evolved over time, but it also better leverages the strengths of our program directors and officers to apply their expertise with community partners and our donors to have an even greater impact.”

As part of the realignment, Dale Anglin officially joined the foundation in October as program director for youth & social services, while Nelson Beckford begins today as program director for neighborhood revitalization & engagement.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Dale to the Cleveland Foundation and welcome back Nelson in this new leadership role,” said Lee. “Both are smart, energetic thought-leaders in their respective areas and will be tremendous assets to our community partners and our residents.”

Anglin initially joined the foundation as a consultant in May 2017, before assuming the role of program director for youth and social services in the fall. The Chicago native spent the past 11 years at the Victoria Foundation in Newark, N.J., where she was responsible for programming in higher education, STEM/STEAM, K-12 education, summer youth employment, and leadership efforts. Anglin previously worked for New Community Corporation in Newark, and for the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management and the Congressional Research Office in Washington, D.C. A graduate of Smith College, Anglin earned her master’s degree from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley.

Beckford returns to the Cleveland Foundation after spending the last four years at St. Luke’s Foundation where he served as the senior program officer for the “A Strong Neighborhood” program area. During his initial term-limited tenure at the Cleveland Foundation (2008-14), Beckford served as a program officer, focusing on community development, environmental sustainability, and program management of the foundation’s Summer Internship program. He previously worked at the Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization, University Hospitals Health System, Cole Managed Vision, and the American Red Cross. The Kingston, Jamaica native received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cleveland State University.

In addition to the new hires, the foundation also announced the promotion of Diane Kaszei to Director, Grants Management. Kaszei has been with the foundation since 1990. She was promoted to grants manager in 2004 when the foundation centralized its grantmaking. Prior to that, Kaszei worked in the Gift Planning and Donor Relations Department helping donors with grantmaking and as an assistant in the civic and economic development program area. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Myers University.
