General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.) to deliver Robert D. Gries Lecture

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Foundation announced today that free tickets for its June 11 centennial meeting will be available beginning at 11 a.m. May 1 through the Playhouse Square ticket office. Those interested in attending the meeting can order tickets online at www.playhousesquare.org/events or call the Playhouse Square ticket office at (866) 546-1353. This is a free event, but tickets will be required, with a limit of two per person.

Powell_Colin_webThe Cleveland Foundation Centennial Meeting – Presented by KeyBank – will convene the community at Playhouse Square to celebrate Greater Cleveland’s philanthropic legacy and to reflect on the impact of the Cleveland Foundation and its donors in the next century. General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.), Secretary of State (2001 – 2005) will deliver the annual Robert D. Gries Lecture at the event.

Cleveland Foundation former President Steven A. Minter will also present the 2014 Homer C. Wadsworth Award. The award is given annually to a local leader who has demonstrated creativity, innovation, ingenuity, risk-taking, and good humor in a civic, volunteer, nonprofit, or public sector role. Last year, the foundation honored Art J. Falco, President and CEO of Playhouse Square.

Following the meeting, guests will enjoy a community reception that immerses attendees in the sights and sounds of 100 years of Cleveland Foundation history.

Doors to the Palace Theatre will open at 5:30 p.m., with the official meeting beginning at 6 p.m.
