Remember Cleveland Hustles? Get ready for Cleveland Chain Reaction! We are proud to join Fox 8 News, Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE), Glazen Urban and Cleveland Neighborhood Progress to put a spotlight on the economic and neighborhood development opportunities happening every day in Greater Cleveland.
Our involvement
Lillian Kuri, Vice President, Strategic Grantmaking, Arts & Urban Design Initiatives, will represent the Cleveland Foundation as one of five investors helping to bring five new businesses to a neighborhood in Cleveland. Our involvement in Cleveland Chain Reaction continues our 100+ year tradition of supporting our community. The goal is to spark local job creation and local economic impact by fostering emerging neighborhood businesses.
“We’re so excited because of our history of investing in neighborhoods, vibrant commercial districts, and the people of this community who are really making it happen,” said Lillian during a live interview on Fox 8 to announce the series. “That’s what’s really exciting about this, is that other neighborhoods that don’t have as much retail activity … benefit from all the activity and young people and ideas that are happening – that’s really what this is about and really what Cleveland needs in our neighborhoods.” If you missed the launch announcement live, you can watch it online here.

I’m so proud of this project and all of our great partners who are making it happen. This is an urban development machine like no other! While most projects like this would still be doing feasibility studies, we are going from zero to a million in 9 short months! You’ll see it all culminating this year in Slavic Village. COSE, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, Fox8, Kenny Crumpton, Cleveland Foundation, the City of Cleveland, the Slavic Village CDC—–all joined together and are making it happen! It’s really exhilarating! Maybe we should do it again???
