Constance Hill-Johnson (Connie) is the Owner and Managing Director of Visiting Angels Living Assistance Services in Cleveland Ohio. Visiting Angels is an in-home service provider assisting the elderly and older adults to live as independently as possible by remaining safely in their own familiar home environment.
Ms. Hill-Johnson started her business in 2002, and now in its 23rd year, has successfully served hundreds of seniors throughout the greater Cleveland area and surrounding communities. She is regarded as both a dynamic motivational leader and speaker who shares with audiences her entrepreneurial journey which began in her early 40s, in addition to her journey as an adult caregiver to a mother with dementia.
Her expertise spans a wide array of organizational settings including acute care hospitals, physician medical practices, and professional management services companies. Ms. Hill-Johnson also spent 5 years as an institutional sales broker on an equity sales and trading desk for Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in Detroit, Michigan.
Ms. Hill-Johnson has earned the degree of Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in Health Services Administration from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Her commitment to the community is unwavering. The Cleveland Magazine named her one of 2024’s Most Interesting People and Crain’s Cleveland Business recognized her in 2023 as a Notable Nonprofit Board Leader. In 2020 she was honored as a YWCA Greater Cleveland Woman of Achievement winner and in 2017 honored as a Crain’s Women of Note. She is on the board of the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging (BRIA) and serves on the board of Adults at Risk (Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry).

Randell McShepard is currently employed as the Vice President of Public Affairs and Chief Talent Officer for RPM International Inc., a $6 billion chemical coatings/paint company headquartered in Medina, Ohio. In this post, he is responsible for managing external and governmental affairs, leading the corporate philanthropy program, facilitating corporate purchasing initiatives and coordinating executive leadership development activities.
An active community and corporate leader, Mr. McShepard is currently serving on several boards in Northeast Ohio including Baldwin Wallace University, Destination Cleveland and Taylor Oswald LLC. He is co-founder and chairman of PolicyBridge, a public policy think tank serving the Northeast Ohio region, and co-founder of the Rid-All Green Partnership, a thriving urban farm and environmental education campus in Cleveland’s Lower Kinsman neighborhood. He also currently serves as a member of the Cuyahoga County Citizens’ Advisory Council on Equity, which was established in 2020.
Mr. McShepard’s previous community/civic leadership roles have included: president of The Union Club of Cleveland, chairman of the Cleveland/Cuyahoga County Workforce Investment Board, chairman of the Manufacturing Advocacy Council of the National Association of Manufacturers, chairman of the Sisters of Charity Foundation, vice-chairman of The Fund for Our Economic Future and vice-chairman of Business Volunteers Unlimited. He has also served as a trustee for The George Gund Foundation, The City Club of Cleveland and United Way of Greater Cleveland.
Mr. McShepard is a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School, Baldwin Wallace University (B.A.) and Cleveland State University (M.S.).
Among his many honors, Mr. McShepard was inducted into the John F. Kennedy High School Hall of Fame and has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of Cleveland State University and Baldwin Wallace University. He was also recognized as a “C-Suite Champion” by Crain’s Cleveland in 2019. He is a graduate of Leadership Cleveland and remains active at his home church, St. James AME Church in Cleveland, where he serves on the Steward Board.

Ronald B. AdrineBoard of Directors

Ronald B. Adrine is a life-long resident of Greater Cleveland. He graduated from Fisk University and the Cleveland State University College of Law. He passed the Ohio bar in l973. In 1974, he joined the staff of the Cuyahoga County Prosecuting Attorney as an assistant in the criminal trial division. In 1976, he entered the private practice of law. Two years later, he served as a Senior Staff Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations. Following his initial election in 1981, he served six full six-year terms, on the bench of the Cleveland Municipal Court. His peers elected him to serve as the Administrative and Presiding Judge of his Court, from 2009 until his retirement in January of 2018. In 2017, he received the President’s Award from the Association of Municipal and County Court Judges of Ohio, the Freedom Fund Award from the Cleveland Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and was selected for inclusion in the inaugural class of the Cleveland State University College of Law’s Hall of Fame. In 2018, he was appointed by Cleveland State University College of Law to serve as its initial Jurist in Residence. He is recipient of The Ohio State Bar Association’s two highest awards: the Ohio Bar Medal and the Thomas J. Moyer Award for Judicial Excellence.
In retirement, he continues active service to the community. He participated as a member of the Ethic Subcommittee of Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb’s 2022 Transition Team. He chaired the 2018 Cuyahoga County Charter Review Commission and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Foundation. He pursues efforts at justice system reform, serving as a member of the Ohio Access to Justice Foundation’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and the Greater Cleveland Reentry Leadership Coalition. He chairs the Partnership for a Safer Cleveland. He is a member of the Thomas J. Moyer Legacy Committee. He sits on the National Boards of Futures Without Violence and Alliance for Hope, International. He served as faculty for Ohio Judicial College, lecturing for New Judge, New Magistrate and Acting Judge Orientation Courses. He helped design Raising the Bar: a joint initiative of the Ohio Supreme Court and the Ohio State Bar Association to combat sexual harassment in the legal community. He is a member of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges’ Judicial Engagement Network, which provides a peer forum and support for judges who focus on providing effective judicial interruption in cases involving interpersonal violence. He is a Founding Member of the Ohio Black Judges Association and chairs its Communications Committee. He chairs Cuyahoga County Council Public Safety Committee’s Juvenile Justice Advisory Subcommittee. Additionally, he is a member of the One Ohio Recovery Foundation Region 3 Advisory Committee.

Frederick E. BidwellBoard of Directors

Frederick E. Bidwell is an arts entrepreneur who advocates for community and social change through the arts. After a 35-year career in advertising and marketing, he and his wife established the Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell Foundation in 2011. Two years later, the Bidwell Foundation opened Transformer Station, a contemporary art exhibition space on Cleveland’s West Side. In 2016, Bidwell launched FRONT International, a multi-venue season-long contemporary art exhibition that attracted an international audience to Cleveland in 2018 and 2022. Bidwell has served as board president of the Akron Art Museum and the founding board chair for the Assembly for the Arts. He also sits on the boards of Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Visiting Committee of the Allen Memorial Art Museum. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College.

Carrie CarpenterBoard of Directors

Carrie Carpenter is Senior Vice President, Regional Director of Community Philanthropy and Engagement for Huntington National Bank, where she directs community engagement strategies for the Northeast Ohio region.
She has more than 30 years of experience engaging leaders in community initiatives, building public relations campaigns, launching charitable programs and designing initiatives to address the needs of cities. Her experience building strategies spans the corporate, nonprofit, philanthropic and public sectors.
She previously served as the President and Executive Director of the Gordon Square Arts District, which leveraged arts and culture for economic development and neighborhood revitalization.
Carpenter served for 11 years as Senior Vice President, Regional Director of Public Affairs for Citizens Bank (formerly Charter One, a division of the Royal Bank of Scotland). Carpenter directed the Citizens Bank Foundation for the 7-state Mid-States region. She was responsible for charitable giving, marketing sponsorships, government affairs, executive positioning, communications, media, public relations and national projects.
Carpenter led public affairs and media efforts at nonprofit organizations and for the government sector. She served as the national communications director for Children’s Rights in New York, as government affairs director for the Center for Families and Children, public affairs director for Planned Parenthood, and worked for U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown and several political campaigns.
She was awarded with the Crain’s Cleveland Business Woman of Note in 2024, YWCA Woman of Achievement Award in 2021, Dress for Success Your Hour Her Power Award in 2022, and a Crain’s Cleveland Business Forty under 40 in 2007. She is a graduate of the Leadership Cleveland class of 2009. In 2010, she was honored with the American Marshall Memorial Fellowship by the German Marshall Fund, an international public policy organization dedicated to promoting better understanding and cooperation between North America and Europe on transatlantic and global issues. She currently serves as the German Marshall Fund’s Cleveland co-chair and hosts European leaders in the city annually. She is a member of the 50 Club and In Counsel with Women, and she is the founder and director of the Women’s Networking Group-Cleveland, a 39,000-member social media discussion group that focuses on empowering women in the workplace.
Carpenter served as Vice Chair of the board of the Cleveland Foundation, where she chaired the grantmaking committee, the social impact investment committee and the real estate committee. She is Chair of Neighborhood Connections and serves on the Black Futures Fund. She serves as Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb’s appointee to the Cleveland Public Market Corporation, the nonprofit transforming West Side Market. She previously was president of the board of Cleveland Public Theatre, vice chair of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, co-founder and vice chair of Assembly for the Arts, vice chair of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission, and on the boards of the Cleveland Leadership Center, the Cleveland International Film Festival and Planned Parenthood of Greater Cleveland. Carpenter earned her B.A. magna cum laude from Kent State University in political science and women’s studies, and her Master’s in strategic public relations from George Washington University.

Margot James CopelandBoard of Directors

Margot James Copeland’s experience spans board and operational leadership; currently she is an Independent Board Director of Banner Corporation (NASDAQ:BANR)and AARP. Locally, she serves on the boards of The Cleveland Clinic, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, The George Codrington Foundation and the Thomas White Foundation. Margot has the distinction of being the 15th National President of The Links, Incorporated.
Margot is the former Chair and CEO of The KeyBank Foundation and a past Trustee of Kent State University. Recognized with numerous honors and awards, she is a recipient of The Cleveland Medal, The Ion Award and the Humanitarian of the Year Award. A native Virginian, she is the mother of three adult children and one grandchild. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Hampton University and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University.

Kathleen FerryBoard of Directors

Kathleen Ferry brings more than 40 years of corporate finance and business operations experience to the board of the Cleveland Foundation. She began as the treasurer and co-owner of Telefast Industries in 1987, before assuming the role of CEO from 2002-13. She then went on to join Focus CFO in 2015 to assist Ohio small and mid-sized businesses with CFO services, including manufacturing, distribution, non-profit and financial sectors. Ferry is a member of the Board of Directors at St. Joseph Academy, having previously served on the boards of the Board of Regents at St. Ignatius High School, Jesuit Retreat Center, and Magnificat High School. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

The Rev. Dr. Robin HedgemanBoard of Directors

Rev. Dr. Hedgeman has served as the Senior Pastor of Bethany Christian Church, where she has championed a community-focused vision for her congregation. A hallmark of her leadership is the creation of a summer enrichment program for youth, designed to foster academic growth as well as promote physical activity through sports, and provide enriching experiences via field trips. Under her guidance, the church has also launched a ministry called Reach Out Touch, which unites churches in the community to collaborate on initiatives such as adopting local schools, further strengthening ties between faith-based organizations and educational institutions.
Prior to her ministry in Cleveland, Dr. Hedgeman spent seven years on the regional staff of the Christian Church in Ohio. Her pastoral assignments have also included serving in her hometown of Washington, D.C., as well as in Louisville, Kentucky, and Peoria, Illinois. Beyond her pastoral duties, Dr. Hedgeman has contributed to her community as an Adjunct Professor for the National Youth Sports Program at Case Western Reserve University, and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Dr. Hedgeman holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Towson State University, a Master of Divinity from Lexington Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary. Her life and work exemplify an unwavering dedication to education, spiritual leadership, and service to others.

J. David HellerBoard of Directors

Over the past 28 years, NRP has become one of the largest multifamily development, construction, and property management companies in the U.S. Since its founding in 1994, The NRP Group has developed more than 50,000 apartment homes and currently manages over 26,000 residential units across its fifteen-state footprint.
The NRP Group ranks consistently in the Top 10 largest developers and builders in the U.S. by the National Multifamily Housing Council and by Affordable Housing Finance. The NRP Group is a winner of the National Association of Home Builders Multifamily Pillars of the Industry award for “Builder of the Year,” and a four-time recipient of the Pillar Award for “Development Firm of the Year.” The NRP Group has become the top multifamily developer in the U.S. that creates both affordable and market rate communities at national scale.
Prior to founding The NRP Group, Heller worked as a consultant for The Townsend Group where he was responsible for more than $3.6 billion in real estate investments over a two-year period. Developments included office, industrial, retail, single family, and multifamily construction projects. Additionally, he helped direct portfolio diversification, asset management, investment strategy and project underwriting. Heller then spent five years at Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago as a manager in the real estate consulting division. He performed feasibility studies and market analysis, created strategic plans, and audited real estate partnerships for major clients of the firm.
Heller is deeply committed to community service and has a long history of leadership positions in civic organizations. In January 2009, the President of the United States appointed him to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. In 2010, Ernst & Young Cleveland recognized him as “Entrepreneur of the Year.” He joined the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund Board in 2008 and continued to serve after the board reappointed him in 2012, 2016 and 2020.
To support the multifamily sector, Heller currently serves on the executive committee and is past Chairman of the Housing Credit Group for the National Association of Home Builders. He serves on the advisory board for the Campaign for Affordable Housing and the editorial advisory board for Affordable Housing Finance magazine. He also serves as a board officer for the Housing Advisory Group. A certified public accountant, Heller is a member of the AICPA.
In the broader community, Heller serves on the boards of University Hospitals of Cleveland, Parkwood Corporation, United Way of Greater Cleveland, Cleveland Foundation, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. Heller also serves on university boards including Case Western Reserve University, the Dean’s Advisory Board for the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, and formerly served on the board of Cuyahoga Community College and chaired the board of Northeast Ohio Medical University.
Heller also devotes himself the Jewish community in Northeast Ohio. Following his role as Campaign Chair in 2013 and 2014, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland named Heller Board Chairman for the 2019-2022 term. He served as an officer of the Federation from 2007-2018 and served on the Executive Committee of the Federation’s Board of Trustees. He is a past chair of the Federation’s Government Relations Committee, past president of Jewish Education Center of Cleveland, past president of Ohio Jewish Communities, and past vice president of Gross Schechter Day School.
Heller holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and in 2017, the Ross School of Business honored him with the David D. Alger Alumni Achievement Award that recognizes alumni who have brought distinction to themselves, credit to the school, and benefit to their fellow citizens.

Carey F. JarosBoard of Directors

Carey Jaros is a global consumer and industrial products executive and board member. Since 2020, she has served as President and Chief Executive Officer at GOJO Industries, maker of PURELL® skin and surface solutions. Jaros joined GOJO in 2016 to lead strategy, product management, and marketing, and then served as Chief Operating Officer before being named CEO. She is a board member of the publicly traded Grocery Outlet (NASDAQ: GO), and is an active angel investor.
Jaros began her career with Bain & Company, where she spent over a decade advising private equity and corporate clients on M&A due diligence, growth strategy, and turnarounds. She also spent several years at Dealer Tire, where she led strategy, finance, and was a general manager. Jaros serves on several non-profit boards in Northeast Ohio and nationally. She is a proud alumna of Laurel School, received her AB in Public Policy from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Jaros was born and raised on the East Side of Cleveland, where she lives today with her family.

Stewart A. KohlBoard of Directors

Stewart A. Kohl is Co-Chief Executive Officer of The Riverside Company, a $14 billion global private equity firm founded to invest in premier companies at the smaller end of the middle market. Since 1988, Riverside has invested in more than 1050 companies globally. The firm’s investors include leading pension funds, endowments, funds-of-funds, insurance companies, banks as well as high net worth individuals, family officers and their wealth advisors. The firm employs more than 350 people in offices across North America, Europe and Australia.
Mr. Kohl joined Riverside in 1993. Prior to that, he was a vice president of Citicorp Venture Capital, Ltd., the private equity arm of Citibank.
In addition to his work with Riverside, Mr. Kohl serves as an Honorary Trustee of Oberlin College and the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Cleveland Clinic, where he Co-Chaired its $2.6 billion Power of Every One Capital Centennial Campaign, which was completed in 2021. He is on the Board of Trustees of the Cleveland Jewish Federation. He was inducted into the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges Hall of Excellence in 2009. He previously served as Co-Chair of the Building for Hope Capital Campaign of the Center for Families and Children.
Mr. Kohl earned the George S. Dively Entrepreneurship Award presented by the Harvard Business School club in Cleveland in 2018. He was inducted into the Northeast Ohio Business Hall of Fame in 2014. After spending 16 years as a “Heavy Hitter” participant in the Pan-Mass Challenge bicycle fundraiser, Mr. Kohl founded VeloSano, a similar event that has raised $80 million to fund cancer research since 2014.
Mr. Kohl holds a BA from Oberlin College.
Ronald A. RatnerBoard of Directors

Ronald A. Ratner is a Director of The Max Collaborative, a multi‐disciplinary real estate company owned and operated by members of the Ratner family.
Mr. Ratner served as the President and CEO of Forest City Residential and Chief Development Officer responsible for oversight of Forest City Realty Trust’s national development program until September of 2018. His career at Forest City began in 1975 and included direct development, construction, financing, and management responsibilities, beginning with individual projects and progressing to executive supervision of multiple large-scale developments on a national level. He had direct responsibility for over 80,000 residential units and in excess of 12 million square feet of mixed-use development in 15 states.
Mr. Ratner received his bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University and completed the master’s program in architecture at UCLA.
Mr. Ratner is active with numerous community, educational, charitable and professional organizations. He currently serves on the board of the Cleveland Foundation, Enterprise Community Partners, The Management Center, the Cleveland Clinic, and Brandeis University. He was active with National Multi Housing Council and has previously served on the Board of Directors at Forest City Enterprises, Inc., and as a board member at The Ohio State University, Park Synagogue, Menorah Park and The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Maria SpanglerBoard of Directors

Maria Spangler is a respected community leader and corporate philanthropy expert. She currently serves as the Director for the Nordson Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Nordson Corporation in Westlake, Ohio.
Spangler earned her B.A., cum laude, in political science from John Carroll University. She holds a juris doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and a masters of public administration from the Maxine Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University
Extensively involved and committed to the Northeast Ohio community, Maria also serves on the boards of University Circle Incorporated and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. She and her husband Michael are strong supporters of educational access to underserved communities and remain staunchly committed to the mission of Esperanza.

Richard P. StovskyBoard of Directors

Richard P. Stovsky retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in June 2018 after 35 years with the firm, holding positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as a Vice Chairman. He currently serves as a Director and Audit Committee Chair of Encore Capital Group, and is on the Advisory Boards of several privately held companies including Safeguard Properties, Morrison Products, Inc. and Anderson-Dubose, Inc. Stovsky also serves on several nonprofit organization boards, including The Cleveland Orchestra, The 50 Club of Cleveland Executive Committee, The Cleveland Museum of Art Executive Committee, Bluecoats of Cuyahoga County Executive Committee, and University School. He is a Certified Public Accountant and attorney, and holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and a juris doctorate from Cleveland Marshall College of Law

Graham VeyseyBoard of Directors

Graham Veysey has spent the last dozen-plus years devoted to sustainably transforming neighborhoods. He is Principal at Grammar Development, a real estate and creative placemaking firm championing responsible redevelopment and community building in the Hingetown enclave of Cleveland. Graham is also Principal of North Water Productions, an Emmy-award winning media and events firm, and an Executive Producer at the Aspen Institute. Through this work, Graham has led the strategy and execution of large-scale summits like the Aspen Ideas Festival, Bloomberg CityLab, the Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit, Aspen Ideas Climate, and Vogue Forces of Fashion.
He also is a co-founder of Graham+Fisk's Wine-In-A-Can, the first exclusive canned wine that is distributed in over 40 states and has won multiple awards from Wine Enthusiast.
Graham was previously Project Director for the Ohio City Farm, a 6-acre urban farm, which he spearheaded with The Refugee Response, a nonprofit working with refugee communities on sustainable agriculture.
Graham has a bachelor's in Political Science and Environmental Studies from Bates College. He is a Presidential Leadership Scholar.
